Arrau, Claudio


(1903-1991), Chilian pianist, studied at the Stern's Conservatory in Berlin, 1910-12, debut there in 1914; U.S. debut at Carnegie Hall, Oct. 23, 1923, won Ibach Prize in 1917; first prize, Concours Geneve, 1927, taught at the Stein's Conservatory, 1924-40, world tour, 1968, 1974-75 and 1981.
