Beethoven, Ludwig van-1


(1770-1827), German composer, took music lesson from his father, then went to Vienna and studied with Mozart, Haydn, Albrechtsberger, and Salieri. Beethoven's works generally divides into three style periods(early, middle, late), his major works includes: 9 symphonis, 5 piano concertos, 1 violin concerto, 1 triple concerto, 1 opera(Fidelio), 2 Romances for violin, Chamber music(octet, string quintets, string quartets, trios), 10 violin sonatas, cello sonatas, 32 piano sonatas, Incidental music(Egmont, The Ruin of Athens, King Stephen overture, and Prometheus), and vocal music(Requiem, choral music and songs).
